Young K. Sohn
Young Sohn is Chairman of W3i's Board of Governors. Young is CEO of Inphi Corporation, a private Analog semiconductor company.
Known for his ability to grow technology companies through operational and technical excellence, Mr. Sohn has more than 25 years of management experience working with public and private corporations, including an intimate knowledge of the Asian IC market gained during his tenure with Intel.
Prior to joining Inphi, Young worked as President of Agilent Technologies' Semiconductor Group (now known as Avago Technologies) where he led the successful turnaround of the semiconductor operation. Prior to that time he served as chairman and CEO of Oak Technology, a digital media semiconductor company providing solutions for the consumer electronics markets. Mr. Sohn also worked as co-president of Quantum Corporation, a data storage solution products manufacturer.
Mr. Sohn honed his knowledge of the Asian market as he founded and built Intel's Korea business and managed the Samsung-Intel strategic partnership. While with Intel, he started the company's PC chipset business unit, which grew to over $300M in revenue under his leadership.
An active investor and advisor, Mr. Sohn invested in or served on the board of directors of more than 25 companies over the last 15 years including PLX Technology, Inc., Tivo, Inc., iPlanet, Synnex Corp., and Hynix. He currently is a board member for ARM Holding PLC, Aristos Logic and Cymer, Inc.
Mr. Sohn earned a bachelor's of science in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's of science from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
