Sauk River Clean-up
We love Minnesota and all it has to offer for nature lovers. Working with the Stearns County Park Department W3i employees spent an afternoon picking up trash in our local Sauk River. Thinking we would just walk along the shoreline was a mistake as we immersed ourselves in the project (and I mean immersed). We were able to haul out a huge pile of trash, including a ski, traffic sign, tire, and, of course, bottles and cans.
Rally for Chloe
W3i dedicated 2008 as a year to raise funds to help mobilize Chloe. Chloe, the daughter of one of our employees, was diagnosed with SMA, spinal muscular atrophy. SMA destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement, which affects walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing. Our fund-raising events included: Christmas Tree Tags, Individual Contributions (change jars), recycling pop cans, Chili Cook-off, Silent Auction, Garage Sale, Poker Run, and Pancake Breakfast. W3i employees raised over $5,000; and hats off to the local Lions Club, who also got involved, and built a ramp. It took teamwork and a lot of ingenuity from Chloe’s dad, but Chloe is now mobile.
